It’s Friday again, thank the universe. Don’t get us wrong, we’ve absolutely loved this week. Literally explored the depths, whether virtual or physical, of the underwater world, and walked dreamily among the clouds. But we hear the call of the weekend coming, beckoning us to let loose.

A week need an Editor’s Pick that is worthy. Closing the week with a bang in this case, is a must. Luckily for us, and therefore luckily for you, we have just the thing…

We have to love a designer who uses fashion to explore so much more than just clothes. And that is the case with Soji Solarin. The Nigerian designer makes use of his eponymous label to explore the different ways in which Blackness is understood.

His SS21 collection ‘Journey Just Come’ had us in awe. His commentary on the whitewashing of culture and Black identity left no untouched soul in sight.

Well guys, as you can see, Soji Solarin is back with a new collection that is a poignant and awe-inspiring as ever. His Spring/Summer 2022 ‘Gifted Sight’ collection pays homage to the women who raised him. Particularly his aunts: Aunty Jummy, Aunty Tope, and Aunty Taiwo. The women who carried Soji Solarin through the toughest of times and showered him with unconditional love and affection, are now inmortalized in the designs of his SS22 collection.

Growing up with these women, Soji Solarin began to develop a sense of what was stylish, laying the foundations for his perception as a designer. These iconic women are now the inspiration behind the designer’s first collection to include womenswear. As such, the collection is inspired by those late naughties early 00’s vibes. ‘Gifted Sight’ has a casual-chic air, and communicates a hell of a lot of strength.
