Another day, another music video being released. Today it’s east London MC Guvna B, dropping the visuals for his track ‘Very Original’.

The song is apart of his newest album, Everywhere + Nowhere (Black Edition Deluxe). The album is his ninth full length project and celebrates his ten-plus year mark in his career as an artist. The project also has unique imprints by artists by the likes of TSB, Wretch 32, Ezra Collective and Barney Artist, which he believes to be one of the biggest moments of his career.

Eveywhere + Nowhere shows the many different sides to Guv.

“I felt like I was pigeonholed slightly and as I’m getting older I realised I wanted to talk about broader topics and make music that a lot of people could relate to.”

Throughout the project his inspiration was derived from late American photographer Vivian Maier, whose work wasn’t discovered and recognized until after her death. He feels like he can relate to this, linking it to the people coming from his same background, where they often never get the chance to reach their full potential, and have their life taken away from them way too early.

His father was one of those people, and the album touches on the fragility of life, grief and bereavement, but there is hope, which Guvna B embraces as he approaches this new chapter in his career. Everywhere + Nowhere is the beginning of this new chapter.

But the real reason we’re here, is to talk about the crazy video the double-MOBO award winning artist released for ‘Very Original’.

The video is directed by Femi Ladi, and was shot in one take. Throughout the video they retrace the rappers’ footsteps around the estate. It’s inspired by this new chapter in his life, where he touches on the damaging reality of negative stereotypes. At the end of the music video, Guv spits a crazy bar on youth violence, where to go, and how to help. “This isn’t exclusive to one side of the community, it’s not just a black issue or a white issue, this problem involves us all”.
