We had high praise for her then, and that has not changed since! For those who don’t know who she is, Tega is a Nigerian-British final year student studying Sports and Exercise Psychology in the UK. She spent most her time during the pandemic working on up-cycling shoes and handbags. But her most famous work, which gained a lot of attention, was derived from broken iPhone cables that she found while tidying her room.

With upcycling being a huge trend, which we love, designers like Tega have been making the most extraordinary pieces out of sustainable, generic materials just by being innovative. It’s very exciting to see these things.
But even though her designs with discarded cables are what caught the most attention from Instagram users, she also makes a great deal of other upcycled pieces which are well worth some attention as well. For example, she made a Nike block heel from a discarded Nike bag, made different kinds of handbags from reworked Patagonia and Nike fleece sweaters, and cosy heels made out of Nike socks or Patanoia Fleece sweaters again.
But her biggest accomplishment could arguably be, being selected as a guest judge for this year’s GOAT #GOATDIY sneaker campaign! This campaign is a global design and upcycling event where you can share your creativity and in return win GOAT Credit. She then also got the chance to make her own customised AF1s, made from second hand materials and scraps.
You can purchase some of here designs on APOC Store, and keep an eye out on her Instagram in order to know when her next release is! You will not regret it.
