One of the ‘big four’, London Fashion Week, is in full bloom, and there are some noteworthy things to mention about the event this year. London Fashion Week has a lively schedule from physical to digital shows, and we are just bursting with excitement.

Over 130 designers have prepared their collection for the runway of London Fashion Week. There are many returnees and first-time-comers among the brands that embody the young Gen Z spirit. However, many London-based mega-brands and industry giant fashion designers were absent from the line-up, and this raised some concerns about London Fashion Week’s position as a leading fashion event.

Lately, this absence and what it means has been quite concerning. Some people interpreted this fact as a sign of the downfall of London Fashion Week’s importance, but we believe it can be the opposite and we can therefore label this event as the innovative fashion week. However, how exactly can we do this?

Present-day brands with the new generation approach were able to book their spot and have a chance to demonstrate their talents in front of the whole fashion world. Now, new youth perspective, novel designs, and fresh trends will prevail on the runway.

This young-brand-oriented fashion calendar can act as a catalog of the fashion industry’s future. Moreover, it can not only show but also shape the future of fashion, thanks to these upcoming names in the industry.

Among all the designers, we spotted a few fashion collections that could well become trailblazers for future trends.

Saul Nash is a designer and choreographer, and it is evident that this duality in his character enables him to connect the creative dots via his designs. He learned fashion at school, then injected his talent for dance into the creative process.

The inspiration comes from the dynamic nature human beings, and his background surely helps him achieve that goal. Combining luxury and activewear, Saul Nash is dancing on the thin line between functional and stylish designs.

In a world where streetwear dominates the runways, we believe traditional fashion community can hand the torch down to casual activewear.

Feben

The feeling of displacement is the muse for London-based designer Feben. A familiar emotion to her due to her nomadic background. Who says the past can’t also be the future? After looking at Feben’s designs, it’s easy to believe why it could.

We saw many examples of personal storytelling via fashion. However, Feben has a broader goal: to construct an aesthetic vision embedded within the Black community. We think fashion can be a very beneficial instrument for strengthening the community. Furthermore, we may witness fashion entering the repertoire for community-building in the future.

Qasimi

Qasimi designs for humans, regardless of gender, background, or lifestyle. Their style combines historical references and presents them with a contemporary touch. However, they do this with a minimalistic approach, which allows them to tell their story from a calm but strong standpoint.

Qasimi get inspiration from socio-political phenomena and express it via the fashion language. Something we would like to see become more common practice in the fashion industry’s future.

Supriya Lele

In our globalized world, we are witnessing the empowerment of hybrid cultures. Supriya Lele explored this fact and shaped her work according to her own multicultural perspective. We have been keeping an eye on here ever since their London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2022 show.

Experimenting with her Indian heritage and British cultural identity, Supriya Lele demonstrates new multicultural bridges that can inspire the fashion industry. This collection of culture-inspired fashion design has the potential to become a moment to watch in the fashion week schedule.

With several hip metropoles emerging among young cities, we may see more complex multiculturalist influences in the fashion industry’s future.

We believe the traditional fashion events should adapt themselves to the kinetic, fast-paced world, like any other modern institution. These events can give a platform to new designers; thus, they can join the fashion storm.

Every pioneer was once a newcomer, and they rewrote the fashion norms when they had the chance. We can’t blame London Fashion Week for applying this same formula.

We shall see how successful this attempt will be, but there is always a stylish hope when it comes to fashion.
